Standards and methods for archiving 3D models
3D models are part of the continuing digitisation efforts, but as the technology is fairly new in the cultural heritage field, work is still under way to identify file formats, methods, and standards for archiving and adding metadata to the various file formats that the 3D models consist of, and which are open and permanent.
The IIIF 3D Community Group is working on standardising formats for publishing in 3D, in the same way that the IIF has already done for 2D images: http://iiif.io/community/groups/3d/
